Metalsa S De R.L. a progressive die stamping operation counts on Coe Press Equipment to help them meet their press feeding needs. Coe has installed several heavy gauge coil processing lines. The product line includes: Servo Roll Feeds, Power Straighteners, Coil Reels, Coil Cradles, Air Feeds and Accessory Equipment.

Coe Press Equipment, a world-leading manufacturer of coil-feeding equipment for the metal-stamping industry, recently shipped the first of three fully integrated coil-feed lines to Metalsa S. de R.L., an automotive stamper located in Apodaca, N.L., Mexico. The line will be integrated into Metalsa's progressive-die stamping operations, which produce various heavy-truck frame rails and other stamped components.

Coe developed the line to meet Metalsa's needs for processing heavy-gauge high-strength CRS (cold-rolled steel) 0.187-in. thick x 42-in. wide, to a maximum thickness capacity of 0.210 in. The coil-feed system features Coe's heavy-duty CPRF-542 servo roll with a BG-2 profile feed controller. A press-mounted encoder provides servo-feed position and velocity information to the controller. The line also includes a CPPS-400-42 power straightener, configured with a full peeler/threader/hold-down station and single-row backup assemblies and variable speed drive. The line's coil reel, a CPR-PO-30042, is capable of handling 30,000-lb. x 42-in.-wide coils.

Other features of this line include motorized breaker roll positioning, special dial-type roll position indicators, and a Trabon automatic lube system. An Allen Bradley SLC-5 PLC controls functions for strip threading and line operations in conjunction with an Allen Bradley Panelview 600 touchscreen operator interface.
