Coe Press Equipment Builds Larger Facility for Manufacturing Coil Processing Equipment

Coe Press Equipment Develops
New Manufacturing Facility

Coe Press Equipment has purchased a larger facility for the purpose of realigning production processes to make press feed equipment assembly much more efficient and streamlined. Coe Press Equipment includes servo roll feeds, power straighteners, coil reels and cradles.

Coe Press Equipment, a world-leading manufacturer of coil feeding equipment for the metal stamping industry, has recently completed development of their new manufacturing facility. The new building, located adjacent to Coe's existing facilities, increases their total production floor space to 72,000 sq. ft.

With this new facility, Coe sees production lead times dropping while quality and build standards remain high. According to Coe General Sales Manager Jim Ward, "With this new facility, we can expand on the high level of quality equipment our customers have come to expect, while simultaneously laying the foundation for future growth and increased capabilities."

At 20,000-sq. ft., the facility will house the manufacturing of both the Coe and Sesco Products Group mid to heavy-duty coil processing equipment. The building has two 150-foot-long bays. Each bay has two 10-ton overhead bridge cranes. As Ward explains, "With this layout, we can have four independent work cells operating simultaneously, each one producing a complete coil feeding system." In addition, Coe has installed new machinery, assembly tools and a 20' x 20' paint booth that can accommodate even the largest pieces of equipment.

Coe Press Equipment new manufacturing facility makes the production process of the press feeding equipment more efficient and stremlined.

Coe Press Equipment faclility includes a new paint booth that will be used for large-scale coil feeding equipment.

The new facility expands Coe's large system production capabilities. "We developed this building so that we can manage our large system manufacturing process more effectively," says Ward. "This means that everything from the equipment build to quality checks to the initial running of the equipment and final testing can be accomplished for multiple systems simultaneously."

"One of the major reasons for purchasing this building was to realign our production processes to make the equipment assembly much more efficient and streamlined," Ward reports. "In the past we built all our equipment, from our light-duty equipment to our heavy-duty systems, in one facility. This meant that we were continuously shifting resources and floor space as demands shifted. That type of environment, as organized as it was, was still not as efficient as it needed to be."

With the new addition, Coe has realigned the assembly process so that specific facilities are dedicated to specific product lines. "What was previously our only assembly facility is now dedicated to light and mid-duty build work exclusively," states Ward. "We've been able to open up an additional 14,000 sq. ft. in that building through this reorganization. And, of course our new building is dedicated exclusively to the mid and heavy-duty lines for both Coe Press Equipment and the Sesco Products Group. This realignment gives us greater capabilities, more flexibility and more efficiency than we've ever had before."
