A precision-fabricated base is used to locate and clamp the die on the press bolster while a solid cast bump-die" featuring wedge-type blade gap adjustment can accommodate various material thicknesses. The center-mounted pivoting capability is driven by a precision ground rack and pinon gear mechanism with a high torque AC servo package.
The COE Oscillating Shear Die can achieve line speeds of up to 300 FPM and hit rates of up to 65 SPM. Other equipment features include self-centering coil edge guides, a pivoting ball transfer-type entrance table, a shifting exit conveyor with VFD speed control, and Allen Bradley Control Logix-based PLC and machine controls.
This is the second COE high-speed Oscillating Shear Die installed at a MISA facility, with a similar system delivered to MISA's Howell, MI plant in 2004.
